The objective of this research entitled “The Translation Analysis of English Idiomatic Expressions Used in the Movie of Breaking Dawn” was to know the types of idiomatic expressions which were mostly used in the movie and the method used in this research the writer used descriptive qualitative method. This method was used to produce a systematic and factual description about the gain of data. Meanwhile, the data were gathered by using the document analysis technique. The instrument of this research was used in the breaking down movie. The populations of the research were all sentences contain idioms on the film Breaking Dawn. The writer used entire population as a sample from movie script in this research analysis, the collection data were identified, analyzed based on Hocket’s theory, to find out idiomatic expressions in the movie and subtitling strategies applied in translating the idiomatic expressions the writer used Newmark’s theory. The result of the data analysis showed that: The total types of idiomatic expressions found in breaking down consist of: There were six types of English idiomatic expressions as follow: Proper Names, English Phrasal Compound, Abbreviation phrasal compound, Figure of Speech, Slang and Substitute. The total types of idiomatic expressions found in breaking down consist of: 38 items idiomatic expressions classified into Substitute, 8 items idiomatic expressions classified into Proper Names, 8 items idiomatic expressions classified into Abbreviation, 7 items idiomatic expressions classified into English Phrasal Compound, 17 items idiomatic expressions classified into Figure of Speech and 32 items idiomatic expressions classified into Slang. the total there were 109 items of the idiomatic expressions found in the movie the result of this study showed that types of idiomatic expression was mostly used in the Breaking Dawn was substitute with 38 items from 109 items. The method of translation that most frequently appeared was communicative translation.
